Casio Helps Recognize Exceptional Songwriters By Sponsoring The Worlds Most Renowned Songwriting Contest
Some of the most talented people in the music industry don’t sing like a bird or play an instrument brilliantly, but they can pen songs that get you on your feet or move you to tears. No matter how much talent a songwriter has, it’s tough to get discovered in today’s music industry. CASIO AMERICA, INC. and Billboard Magazine are partnering to search for the world’s most aspiring songwriters in the 15th Annual Billboard World Song Contest (BBSC).
As the longest running song contest in history, the Billboard World Song Contest grants the opportunity of a lifetime to winners by including them on the Annual Billboard Song Contest (BBSC) Winners’ CD. A collection of the best aspiring songwriters in the world, the CD is distributed to acclaimed associates in the music industry. Original songs can be entered to win through November 15, 2007, and the best part is contest entrants don’t need to have perfect pitch or be a soaring soprano!

Casio WK-3300
Casio and Billboard duet has orchestrated what promises to be the best contest yet with participation unparallel to past years. Not only will the 11 grand prize winners be featured on the renowned 15th BBSC Winners’ CD, but they will also be awarded a Casio WK-3300 keyboard.
The WK-3300 has 76 full size keys and is one of Casio’s performance keyboards that are ideal for aspiring, intermediate and advanced players. The WK-3300 boasts features such as Touch Sensitive keys, which provide different tone sounds when struck hard or soft, just like a piano. General MIDI, and a 5 song, 6-track memory, allowing users to record one or more instrument parts and assign each to a different track. The performance series also include an SD Card Slot, USB compatibility so you can transfer data to and from your computer and a ZPI sound source with 32-note polyphony for superior sound. This unit also features an Internet Data Expansion System that allows you to download new sounds, patterns, songs and settings. All these features provide any user the ability to musically enhance their creativity.
“What Casio finds most compelling about this contest is that it provides every music enthusiast the opportunity to be heard,” said Peter Brinkman, Vice President of Casio’s Consumer Products Division. “ Our company is committed to the music experience and we are entirely supportive of nurturing and stimulating musical creativity, which is what this contest is all about.”
As the longest running song contest in history, the Billboard World Song Contest grants the opportunity of a lifetime to winners by including them on the Annual Billboard Song Contest (BBSC) Winners’ CD.
Judges are chosen from among the music industries most conversant professionals who will critique each song in the areas of lyrics, melody, composition, and originality. This select group has an array of knowledge of the songwriting process and can recognize true talent and potential when they see it.
Winners of the Billboard Song Contest in each of the 11 categories will be announced in January 2008. For more information on additional prizes and benefits in this contest, please visit www.billboardsongcontest.com.
