Yamaha LC2 Plus Music Lab Offers Premium Enhancements

Yamaha has long supported group teaching and music education, so it's no surprise that the new LC2 Plus Music Lab represents a breakthrough in educational and digital technology by offering several premium enhancements. New and exclusive features on the model, which will debut at Winter NAMM 2007, include Yamaha CM500 headset microphones, MIDI Illustrator software and Music Lab Management software for instructing and controlling up to forty eight students with point and click ease-of-use.

The expandable LC2 Plus Music Lab system can be used to hold group lessons for eight to 48 students teaching any instrument that has a headphone jack, including Yamaha digital pianos, portable keyboards, silent guitars, digital drums, silent brass and silent strings. Built-in Ethernet ports and bundled software connect the LC2 Plus to an instructor's PC for total control. The MIDI Illustrator software displays notes played by the teacher on a jumbo-sized grand-staff, while the CM500 headphones ensure comfort, isolation from distracting noises and excellent sound quality and reliability.

"The LC2 Plus offers music educators a low cost, intuitive and flexible way to teach a group of students in a variety of configurations," said Dane Madsen, marketing manager, Digital Pianos, Yamaha Pro Audio & Combo Division. "This product is a significant improvement over previous models and has exclusive features that are not found on competitive systems. Everything you need is included, down to the Velcro for attaching lab hardware to student instruments."

Using the LC2 Control Unit, instructors can place students in virtual practice rooms and use isolating headset microphones to address them individually, in pairs, in other custom-sized groups or all at once without requiring the instructor to leave his or her instrument or the front of the classroom. The useful MUTE button instantly disables student instruments when it's time for them to pay attention. To help teachers with administrative functions, the unit also comes with Music Lab Management software, which memorizes class configurations and stores student names, grades and attendance while providing a bird's-eye view of even the largest installations. Found exclusively on the LC2 Plus, the MLM software gives teachers control over the entire class all on one simple screen.

The LC2 Plus Music Lab is currently available. Also available, the P70S Piano Lab Bundle includes the LC2 Plus Music Lab, nine P70S digital pianos, nine L70S matching stands and nine WB2 benches.
